Kalay Diocese Marks 20th Episcopal Ordination Anniversary of Bishop Felix with Solemn CelebrationKALAYMYO, MYANMAR — May 6, 2026

The Catholic faithful of the Kalay Diocese gathered in a spirit of thanksgiving and unity to celebrate the 20th Episcopal Ordination Anniversary of Bishop Felix Lian Khen Thang on May 6, 2026. The jubilee celebration, held at the Diocesan Pastoral Centre in Kalaymyo, brought together priests, religious sisters, and representative members of the faithful to honor two decades of dedicated episcopal service.

The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Bishop Felix himself, reflecting both humility and gratitude as he marked this significant milestone in his ministry. Among those in attendance were clergy of the diocese and members of the Little Way Sisters of St. Theresa, whose presence added to the spiritual depth and communal joy of the occasion.

During the Mass, the homily was delivered by the eldest priest of the diocese, Rev. Fr. Joseph Pau Kap Mung. In his reflection, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for sustaining and protecting Bishop Felix throughout his 20 years of episcopal ministry. Drawing inspiration from the life of Saint Dominic Savio, whose feast day coincided with the celebration, he highlighted how the young saint was formed under the guidance of Saint John Bosco. Fr. Joseph used this example to underscore the essential role of a bishop as a “good shepherd” — one who understands and responds to the needs of his flock with care, wisdom, and compassion.

The liturgy was marked by reverence and joy, as the faithful joined in prayerful thanksgiving for Bishop Felix’s leadership, pastoral dedication, and unwavering commitment to the Church in Myanmar. The anniversary served not only as a personal milestone for the Bishop but also as a moment of renewal for the diocesan community.

At the conclusion of the Mass, Rev. Fr. Raphael Suang Cin Khup delivered a message of gratitude on behalf of Bishop Felix. He thanked all the priests, sisters, and faithful for their presence and prayers, and warmly invited everyone to partake in a communal breakfast as well as a grand dinner hosted later in the day in honor of the occasion.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, Bishop Felix joined the priests and religious sisters for a joyful group photograph, capturing the unity and shared happiness of the gathering. The celebration continued with a festive breakfast, where participants enjoyed fellowship and conversation in a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere.
The anniversary festivities are set to conclude with a grand dinner hosted by Bishop Felix, further expressing his appreciation and strengthening the bonds of communion within the diocesan family.

The event is expected to draw continued participation from clergy and faithful, marking the occasion with celebration and gratitude.
The 20th Episcopal Ordination Anniversary of Bishop Felix Lian Khen Thang stands as a testament to faithful leadership and enduring service. It highlights the vital role of episcopal ministry in guiding the Church and nurturing the spiritual life of the faithful. As the Kalay Diocese reflects on these two decades of service, the celebration becomes not only a remembrance of the past but also a hopeful step forward into the future of the Church in Myanmar.
