| Bibliography | Joseph Ruellen was born on June 23, 1926, in Lesneven (Finistère). Ordained a priest on December 22, 1951, he left on July 21, 1952, for Mandalay (Burma). After studying Burmese in Mandalay, he was sent to Mualpi, in the Chin Hills (1953), then to Saizang (1954-1966). He was then sent to Madagascar. Initially assigned to the diocese of Mananjary (1967-1970), he was then posted to Antananarivo (1970-1973). In 1974, he returned to France for health reasons. He then returned to his mission and was appointed to Antsenavolo (1981), then to Tsiatosika (1983). He returned permanently to France in 1995 and retired to the care home in Lauris, where he died on October 23, 2023. |
